Skate 4: Double Trouble Challenge Guide (Modified Grabs & Body Flips in Sequence)
Double Trouble is a pro Own the Spot challenge in Skate that is part of the Hesh & Fresh season. To complete all the goals in this challenge, players must execute a sequence that consists of two body flips, two modified grabs, and a manual. This guide is here to help players put together that sequence and claim all the rewards associated with Skate‘s Double Trouble challenge.
This sequence can be quite difficult to execute, and it may take Skate players many attempts to put it together even if they have a solid understanding of what they are meant to do.
How to Complete Double Trouble in Skate 4
Strategy
To begin, here is an overview of how the Double Trouble sequence is executed:
- Push toward the ramp, and hold down on the right joystick just before coming into contact with it.
- Ollie just after your front wheels pass the metal section at the beginning of the ramp. The goal here is to Ollie so that you clear the ramp’s first hump and land high on the descent.
- As soon as the Ollie is confirmed, hold L2, hold the right joystick diagonally up and to the left, and hold the left joystick up to perform a Melon Front Flip over the ramp’s first hump.
- Just before the skater completes the forward flip, release all the inputs and hold the joystick very slightly downward. The idea is to land in a Manual, which should be ridden to the top of the second hump.
- At the top of the second hump, flick the right joystick up to turn the Manual into an Ollie.
- Hold L2, hold the right joystick diagonally up and to the left, and hold the left joystick up to perform a Melon Front Flip over the ramp’s second hump.
- Land to complete the sequence.
Tips
It is critical that players nail the timing of the Ollie that is used to get above the first hump. Again, the goal is to Ollie so that you will land high on the descending side of the hump, as that will maximize your speed as you Manual towards the second hump. An Ollie just after passing the ramp’s first metal section should set up that position nicely, and players are advised to really focus on executing that trick cleanly before they start pressing the inputs that will start the first Melon Front Flip.
With respect to the Manual, players should aim to position the right joystick so that the indicator at the bottom of the screen is just below the interior circle. Landing in a Manual is something that players are likely already familiar with, as doing so is required for many other challenges in Skate, though it is very important that this one is held lightly in order to maintain speed towards the second hump. Players must also work to stay in the center of the ramp, as veering off to the side will lead to a grind that ruins the sequence.
For the final Melon Front Flip, players should do their best to wait until the very top of their ascent up the second hump before flicking the Ollie. Indeed, flicking the right joystick up too early can prevent the Ollie from being confirmed and kill the sequence. Notably, this Ollie can send the skater forward and over the second hump or straight up and back down, and it is possible to land the Melon Front Flip, and complete the sequence, in both scenarios.
